The True Meaning of Prosperity
Prosperity - Understanding The True Meaning Of It
Prosperity is something that everyone wishes to achieve in life. However, there are very few people who really understand the true meaning of prosperity. Unless you know prosperity in its real sense all your efforts to achieve it will go in vain. For many people prosperity just means accumulation of wealth. Although you do need wealth to prosper, there are many other things also, without which you cannot attain true prosperity.
Important Factors For Prosperity Other Than Wealth
Good health and happiness are the two main factors other than the wealth that you have to take into account when thinking of prosperity. In the absence of any of these three you cannot climb the ladder of success. Good health refers to the fitness of body. If you are not fit, it will not be possible for you to derive pleasure from your wealth. That is why you should give importance to physical fitness. For this purpose you should develop a healthy life style.
What Does Happiness Mean?
Happiness has so many facets. It includes good relations with not only your spouse and family but also with neighbors, friends, co-workers and associates. Your career also affects the happiness in your life to a great extent. To be happy you should be well satisfied with your job. How can you achieve prosperity if you feel frustrated at your work place? You might value suitable material possessions but these alone cannot keep you happy. You need a positive environment where you can grow both mentally and emotionally.
Process Begins In Your Mind
It is only in your mind where true prosperity begins. Your dreams, ideas, wishes and thoughts play a major role in the process of attaining prosperity. You have the power of converting any ideas, wishes or thoughts into reality by concentrating on them. So, whatever shape you want to give your life in the future is completely in your hands. Nevertheless, you have to realize and experience this ability within your self. Once you do so you can get amazing results and success in all your endeavors. However, have faith if you have yet not realized your true potential. This is where individuals with spiritual belief are at an advantage over other people.
All you have to do is set your goal and plan your day in such a way that the goal you have set for your life becomes the vital point of your emotions.
Prosperity in the Bible
People can debate all day long about it, but it is very clear in scripture that God took care of, blessed and prospered, his servants. You can pick just about any servant of God from the Bible and you will see examples of God's blessing in their lives. Even Job ended up with twice as much as he started with!
Prosperity is not MONEY.
Prospering in a situation often has very little to do with money. It depends on what our need is at that moment. If my body is sick with a terrible disease, I can assure you my focus will not be on financial prosperity, but on my health prospering. Wouldn't you?
Seek first the Kingdom
Biblical prosperity is a result of seeking God - not "things" and "money"!...
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (NIV)
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well". (NIV)
13 "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it". (NIV)
1 John 5:14-15
I could go on...
Once we give it all up and realize that we are merely stewards (see the Parable of the Talents) over what has been entrusted to us, it is easy to get our mind off our bank accounts. It is a lot easier to give someone else's money away!. If God says to give, who are we to try to tell Him how to manage His money?
God did not put us down here to seek our own satisfaction.
If there is anything I have learned is that He continues to teach me over and over to get my mind off of myself. We are all placed on this earth for a purpose. And I can assure you it is not to seek our own satisfaction. God takes care of all of his servants, but the thing to remember is that He is the only one we can trust to do it. If we put our trust in ourselves, we might as well be building a house on the sand.
The purpose for our financial prosperity is to bless others!
The Bible says that to whom much is given, much is required
"From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more".
I wholeheartedly believe that as our finances begin to increase, our giving should increase. As financial prospering takes place in our lives, it should be used to benefit the lives of others and not just build our own barns.
If we truly understand how God's system works, we would want to spend every waking moment on this earth giving. We would not even think twice about giving our time, money, energy or anything else. God tells us to store up treasures in heaven - not on earth! He is saying this for OUR benefit because He knows that ultimately we will be far more blessed if we obey!
It really doesn't matter whether we have a little or a lot. Our goal should be to give all we can to those that need it (e. g. donations to your place of worship to keep the lights and heat on; donations to charity organizations like soup kitchens, homeless shelters, safe-havens, etc.) Even a little goes a long way to help others!
What is your measure of prosperity?
Material wealth may not always equate to emotional and spiritual well being and happiness. The expensive things you surround yourself with does not mean an atmosphere of warmth and happiness. The measure of prosperity embraces the total well being of a person. The obvious signs of material prosperity does not necessarily mean a happy and fulfilled life. A hectic social life may be just an excuse to stay away from a cold house, devoid of laughter and good cheers. One may have all the money, yet lives with that nagging feeling of emptiness, restlessness and even boredom. There is a void that can not be filled.
It is often said that money doesn't buy happiness. Some are content with being able to meet their basic needs. They may never have ventured outside their cities, but with the invention of television, and the internet, they are aware of what's happening around the world. They are happy. Do they feel prosperous? They are blessed with peace and serenity. They enjoy the company of family and friends. A Sunday drive around the country and a stop at the fast food place makes them feel content with their modest lifestyle.
Less is more. Those who subscribe to this belief find contentment with what they have and not obsess over what they don't have. Often it is the pain of not being able to meet the "want" list that leave people in misery. To fulfill this list, many go into unnecessary debt for temporary gratification and more misery when debt piles up.
Look at problems objectively, worry is not a solution but a hindrance. Living within your means and being contented with what you have is more peaceful than going through sleepless nights worrying about spending money you don't have for things you don't need. Trust me, I speak from experience!
Good and loving family relationships- this is wealth! Health of mind, body and spirit is wealth. Indulge in what adds to your prosperity and well-being such as: reading, writing, music, meditation, walking with your spouse, making the time to spend with your kids, sitting in the park, canoeing, yoga, cooking, gardening and visiting relatives and friends.
Even if you have a demanding career, learn to take time to do these things. Appreciate life and be grateful you are alive. The almighty dollar is not the ultimate measure of your prosperity and abundance .
